That's why there needs to be international rules on the exploration of the Moon and even limits on the exploitation and colonization of the Moon.
In my opinion, a maximum of 10% of the-- polar areas-- on the lunar surface should be allowed to be colonized or exploited. And a maximum of 1% of the lunar surface (~380,000 square kilometers) in general should be allowed to be colonized or exploited by individual nations or by private companies under the rules of an individual nation.
